FSBO ListedList my home

Where to advertise your home (and how)

Facebook Marketplace, local groups, Instagram, Nextdoor, Craigslist, flyers and open houses, with copy you can paste.

Start with the Marketing tab

Your dashboard’s Marketing tab has ready-to-paste posts for each place below, written from your approved listing so they pass the same fair-housing check. Copy, paste, add photos, post.

Where to post

  • Facebook Marketplace: Create new listing → Property for sale. Add 10 to 20 photos, front of the house first. Marketplace is where a lot of local buyers browse.
  • Facebook: your own page (ask friends to share; most homes sell to someone a friend of a friend knows), plus local community and buy/sell groups that allow real estate posts.
  • Instagram: a carousel of your best 10 photos with the caption from the Marketing tab.
  • Nextdoor: neighbors often know someone who wants to move to the area.
  • Craigslist: Housing → Real estate for sale by owner.
  • Flyers: print the flyer from your dashboard for open houses, local bulletin boards and a flyer box by your sign if you add one.

Open houses

  • Weekend afternoons work best. Post the date and time a few days ahead everywhere you advertised, and again that morning.
  • Put out directional signs at nearby turns if your area allows them, and turn on every light.
  • Have flyers ready and a sign-in sheet (name, phone, email, and whether they’re working with an agent).
  • Put away valuables and prescriptions, and have a second person with you.

Banner photos for open houses, price changes and offers

Posts with a bold banner across the photo get noticed in a busy feed. Your dashboard makes them for you from your main photo: a waving red flag that says OPEN HOUSE, PRICE IMPROVEMENT or UNDER CONTRACT.

  1. Check that your main photo (photo 1 on the My listing tab) is the front of the house. If it isn’t, tap “Make main photo” on the right one.
  2. Open the Marketing tab and scroll to the Open house, Price improved or Under contract post.
  3. Tap the “Download main photo with … banner” button under that post. The photo saves to your phone or computer, and a small preview appears next to the button. On an iPhone, if the photo opens instead of saving, press and hold it and choose Save to Photos.
  4. Copy the post text with its Copy button.
  5. Start a new post on Facebook, Instagram or Nextdoor, add the banner photo first, then 3 or 4 of your favorite photos (just the banner photo for Under contract), paste the text and post.

Keep it fresh

  • Repost on Marketplace every week or two so you stay near the top.
  • When the price changes, post the “price improved” version from the Marketing tab, with its PRICE IMPROVEMENT banner photo.
  • Fair housing applies to your own ads too: describe the home, not the kind of buyer you want. Stick to the wording we wrote, and don’t add phrases about who the home is “perfect for”.
